House Husbands replaces Days of our Lives

Nine has scheduled repeats of House Husbands to replace Days of our Lives from 2pm next Monday.

2013-04-14_1738Nine has scheduled repeats of House Husbands to replace Days of our Lives from 2pm next Monday.

Nine dumps the US soap on Friday after 45 years, based on a “commercial decision.”

Sony is hoping to find a new home for the popular soap and has set up a Facebook page for local fans.

But with just 10 episodes of House Husbands in the first season, Nine will need probably another show to see out the next 45 years.

  1. Its gone people get used to it and more importantly deal with it. DoOL is heading straight for pay tv no question, FOXtel will look at as a investment as a way of luring new and primarily older customers.

  2. I don’t watch this show at all,but why get rid of a program that always does good business.Very strange decision.Channel 9 if you want to save some cash it’s about time you axed the NRL Footy Show.Stand by for repeats from now on.

  3. Bad move that Ch 9 couldn’t find anything long term to place in the vacant timeslot considering it was based on a “commerical decision”. What’s going to occur in another 2-3 weeks in that timeslot?

  4. It’ll surely be available on Foxtel for hardcore Aus DoOL fans, so it’s not the end of the world, if Nine didn’t see that the figures worked in their favour.

It just means being prepared to become a Foxtel subscriber if you’re not currently and I suppose it’s tough luck if you can’t afford it.

  5. Absolutely disgusting, will not be watching anything in this timeslot!
Leave our dool alone, fans have been loyal to this show for years and channel 9 have let us down badly.
Thanks to secret squirrel for telling me that I could watch full episodes of Dool on U Tube which I have been doing bit by bit, although it will take me a long time to catch up on over a years worth of episodes, its better, no ads and each ep goes for 38 minutes!
Thanks for nothing channel 9, just leave all the story lines up in the air!

  6. It is basically a financial decision that they couldn’t justify with recent cost issues!
As for the replacement, I laughed at the next 45 years…
Perhaps Aussie content will help them reap Content Quota even though it might not count to daytime content!

  7. rescue special ops. Mcleods daughters, tricky business, underbelly… there are a few shows they can use. but we all know a news bulletin is likely. they could always bring Midday back, I think it could work with a news/public affairs twist (a daytime version of the project)

  8. Luv your last line, David.
I was also thinking: good so see Network Programmers thinking long term…..Wait for the Flying Doctors stripped 5 days or worse The Young Doctors!!!!

  9. I just hope they don’t put comedy on 2PM say Big Bang theory or two and a half men or 2 brok girls or are they going to go with cooking alive and cooking.

  10. This really is an insult to fans, some of whom have been watching the show for 45 years and now with all the digital channels to put it on it just shows the networks don’t care about their viewers.

If Nine were so adamant in repeating Australian drama why not show something along a similar vein that hasn’t been shown for years and that may get a similar audience like “The Young Doctors” (aka along with “The Sullivans” their only ever successful soaps), rather than the abomination that supposedly passes for “drama” that is House Husbands, which much like Offspring when it had a 2 million+ lead in, loses over half its audience.

  11. Im sure Nine dont really care what the ratings are. Just so long as its cheap. Im assuming nothing airing between 12-4 rates over 200-250k right?

  12. I kinda thought they would be re running some drama series, just didn’t know which one. It is hard to believe that nine didn’t have more than two weeks of Days up their sleeves though.

  13. Yeah, that’s true, they will have to find another show when all of them have aired. Maybe they can add The Following and I will get to see the one I missed last week.

  14. Booooo! I won’t be watching no matter what Nine replace DOOL with. Still angered by their decision and it doesn’t even seem like they have even put any thought into it’s replacement. I hope the ratings at 2pm fall through the floor.
